Highlights
“We’ve been disappointed, we’ve lost games before…but you have to pick yourself up and look forward to the next match. There’s always something you can learn from the circumstance…..”

Agi and Gin Chu vehemently agreed with each other that disappointments were and are apart of their lives as athletes, as were the joy and satisfaction of winning a game well fought and trained for.
The teacher
A full-time badminton player since the age of 14, Agi has been working with the Malaysian badminton team as a trainer and a shuttler. His commitment: to ensure Malaysian shuttlers gain the experience and exposure in order to become world champions - a task he took to heart and placed above & beyond making a champion of himself. In his current form, Agi has placed first in many international competitions and made a name for himself within the badminton circuit.
The overcomer![]()
An avid sportswoman, Gin Chu was suddenly wheelchair-bound from a physical disease. She spent months staying at home, angry with her situation, not wanting to do anything with her life. Realizing her purpose, she is now working as the head of the employment department at Beautiful Gates, encouraging those at the home to integrate into society, lead fulfilling lives despite their inabilities. She is a part-time athelete who has a love for dance!
“You have a commitment to your goal. You give it your best and leave God to take care of the rest!”
For Agi, training and playing badminton was a life-dream. Losing meant analysing the match, discussing it with his coach and learning from mistakes. Winning meant receiving the trophy, remaining the champion only as long as he was on the court, and after - he was back to status quo, a shuttler who disciplined himself to a strict regime, dedicated in achieving the goal set for himself and for Malaysia.
What made him different? Not being ashamed of his faith and always mindful of God’s presence in his life. Living a life of prayer, committing each training session and match in God’s hands, tapping into the ultimate power source to fuel his confidence.
“Because you realize that God has a plan for your life, and His plans never fail us nor will He ever forsake us!”
She realized that being in a wheel-chair did set her life on a different path - in her capacity, she was and is able to encourage others like her to not shy out of society but live life extravagantly. Through sports and activities at the Beautiful Gate community, she has realized that God is making a difference through her life. A plan she knows God will see through and now encourages others to see how much more life can be!
