Welcome back my favourite GTRS-ians! What a ball we had last Saturday as we invited one of our most prominent GTPJ celeb couples, Christien & Lavin to address the controversial topic of “Face to face Challenges in the Entertainment World!!” and overcoming it.

Throughout the session, the couple stressed the importance of God in their lives. In trials and temptations, “God always showed up in perfect timing” as Christien expressed. When asked by Ps Julie on how the couple handled their recent media rumours and controversies, Lavin confidently responded “God has given them a sense of peace and calmness in all their situations and through His word provided them with much wisdom.” Lavin openly shared that “…it is part of the industry which you must be prepared to handle, and only God can give you wisdom to face each circumstance”.

Christien in addition answered with conviction, “Pray, pray, pray, until something happens, praying with each other strengthens your relationship“. Lavin continued to give glory to God by testifying of His goodness through a situational victory concerning the couple’s upcoming 2nd baby. Lavin expressed, “this baby is really God’s gift”. Prior to Lavin’s knowledge of her pregnancy, she was taking medication which had side affects on pregnant women directly affecting the formation of the fetus. After a routine clinical checkup for a diagnosed 2 inch cyst in her womb, Lavin discovered she was pregnant.

As described by Lavin “This was a real test of the couples faith especially with a high chance of fetul deformity as a result of the medication”.

As the couple prayed fervently for a miracle from God, after several tests, confirmations were given that the baby was very healthy and formation in normal progress!! In addition, proving Gods goodness and healing power, every trace of the cyst in Lavins womb totally disappeared!! Every 2 inch of it!! Glory to God!

All in all, the entire sessions’ underlying theme was “Pray to God despite all your circumstances, seek wisdom from the word of God and have faith knowing He will strengthen you through trials and temptations.

Ps Julie then shared about the temptations King David faced during his reign and the consequences he suffered as he succumbed to temptation over Bethsheba in 2 Samuel 11:27.

“Temptation is not a sin, but when you act upon temptation, you have fallen in to sin” Ps Julie added.

But God is a forgiving God, and opens His arms to embrace all those who have fallen short of His glory.

The four steps to overcome our weaknesses are as follows and can be summarised in the following acronym (As provided by Ps Julie)

R A C E

Recognise your weakness
Admit you weakness
Confess your weakness and make it known to God
Expel your weakness and take steps to rid it from your life

In addition, when you are going through temptation, “Look to Lord, and focus on Jesus for strength and courage to overcome temptation” as advised by Ps Julie.

James 4:7 tells us “Subject yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee”.

In closing, Ps Julie read Psalms 51 from the bible highlighting Davids plea for Gods forgiveness and the restoration of God unto him.

For those of you struggling, or facing temptations during your walk with God, remember to Look unto Jesus and start the RACE with the Lord. He will see you through the finish line, Amen !!
