Highlights:
PASSIONATE. The word best defines the character and attitude of our latest guest for the Live@Five series at Glad Tidings Revival Service (GTRS). Dr. Yap graduated with a Degree in Communications and later furthered her studies in the United States to earn her Masters in Theology. She amassed valuable broadcasting experience having worked in Taiwan and the United States for several years in the field, before returning to Malaysia and now serves as an assistant professor in Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). Amongst her accomplishments as a musician and producer, Dr Yap has also founded a church, produced several albums and preaches every week to mostly mandarin congregations in different churches. Truly a woman of God called for such a time as this.
Amidst her very busy schedule, Dr Yap holds a very passionate heart for college students, resulting in the birth of the Campus Town Ministry. It was a relatively short edition of Live@Five ala 8TV’s Quickie as Dr. Yap shared her passion for students and Campus Town with Ps. Julie and Ps. Linda. As she explained, Campus Town is a place where students can hang out with their peers to engage in healthy activities - be it dolling up at the hair salon or just chilling out in the cafe, Campus Town has it all. Dr. Yap also counsels students who need someone to listen and help them with their problems.
As she begun sharing from 2 Timothy 3:1-5 about the godlessness in the last days, she recalled some of her conversations with her students and how they have become lovers of self, indulging in the carnal pleasures the world has to offer. A fleeting moment of satisfaction compared to the eternal promise that God has for us. Her message rippled through the hall as a wake up call for us Christians, emphasizing the need to for us to rise up and reach out to a lost generation, our generation. It was a call to action, reminding us of the significance in sharing the grace of Christ who died on the cross that we may have life and life more abundantly. “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus”, Romans 3:23-24. There were 3 salvation decisions that was made this saturday, Praise the Lord!!!.
May Dr. Yap’s passion infect our hearts with same zeal as we venture into our work places and colleges to be a light for Him. Have great week everybody and hope to see you at the last edition of Live@Five next week, be sure not to misis it!
