As fast as the wind changes direction, so does that of our life situations and often we are not prepared, aware or ready to accept these changes.

What better person to share with us on this very real and apt topic than a humble man who has faced many change challenges of his own. Brother Jeremy Tan, a Certified Financial Planner and established influential in the banking industry started his career in 1978 as a trainee officer for DBC. His credentials include working in strategic managerial positions for a plethora of large global financial organizations including Southern Bank, UOB and rising to the height of his career as the Vice President of “Cash Product Development & Management E Business”, Citibank Group. In addition to his rising career path, Brother Jeremy received many rewards and recognitions for his work in the financial sector including being the first non Muslim to win the prestigious “Top Muslim Will Writing Award in 2005”. Brother Jeremy commented that Gods favour has always been upon him and that it was a great opportunity and avenue to reach the unsaved.

A significant change in Brother Jeremy’s life came more recently when he moved out of Citibank to pursue a business of his own in Financial Planning, with his vision to ultimately be a “Life Planner”. “God has given us life, and we need to manage our lives according to Gods principals”, he added.

But this change did not come without its uncertainties and challenges. As prompted by co host Kenneth Koh “After 25 years of banking experience, a comfortable position and supporting a family of four, that weight of responsibility is on you. Weren’t you afraid of the change? How did you cope with that change and transition?”

Brother Jeremy replied that God has always been instrumental in every direction of his working life, including drawing him out to pursue a business of his own. God’s providence has always met his every single financial need in the transitional stages and made his path clear. Though uncertainties arose in many of his life changes, Brother Jeremy remained faithful by placing his situations before the Lord and fervently seeking direction. Obediently he took steps of faith and laid his life before God. The results are evident with success not only in his business, career, social stature and finances, but the blessings of a strong God fearing family actively worshipping and serving in the Church.

God truly multiplied Brother Jeremy’s inheritance when he decided to place everything at His feet.

Brother Jeremy shared that in life, he applied three principals (pillars) that had always seen him through every situational change and provided a foundation of faith irregardless of the situations magnitude.

These 3 principals can be found in the following verses:

Principal 1: Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ, Who strengthens me.”

Principal 2: Philippians 4:19 “My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Principal 3: Philippians 4: 6 -7 “In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.”

As Reverend Julie closed the service, she drew our attention to that one underlying factor, that in every situation, trial or tribulation, only “In Christ” will we find restoration, peace and security. That the foundation of our walk with God is first knowing the person of Christ Jesus, and cultivating that hunger for more of His presence in our lives!!

Matthew 6:33-34
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
