Feedback on GTRS.ORG - still Beta Testing

Dear GTRS-ians

On behalf of the GTRS Web Team, we are pleased to say that we have developed a simple website (blog style) to help share information, get people connected, put a platform for you to put your thots, online audio and video sermons, photo galleries, cell information … and more.

We have been working on gtrs.org for the last two months, and we would like you to test it out and give us your comments. This will give us the ability to tweak it and to add more things on it, before we launch it.

If u have any comments or ideas … please leave your comments here.

Blessings

  1. Audio Sermon
There a link on the left GTRS Audio Sermon and there is another icon on the right… a little confucsing cause both are different feel and look.

    Recommendation
1st click will take you to the blogging style, then inside the bloggin style screen there is an option to view list style,.

  2. Hey David

I think the WHITE Background for the Posts and Side Bar is nicer than the current greenish effect. But then again .. i am not the right person for colors. Those of you who are .. please state your comments.
    :) d

  3. I like white also :)

  4. i think the current greenish colour is alrite. black really stands out against this green tho. perhaps, change the fonts to a greenish tone too. friendster has got examples on colour combinations. i’ve saved a print screen of what they have, will e-mail if u want. just let me know.

  5. Yup. Mail me. I kinda prefer the pale green tone below the fonts. But I’m not sure about greening the fonts though. AHahha.

    Anyone for ORANGE links?

  6. Hey Chris .. Great job ..i see you have changed the Flash Banner! :) Cooler! :)

  7. yeah!! love the banner….I think Orange should be for key words :)

  8. Looks good: how about making the top title banner clickable to lead back to home? Right now we’ve got that tiny little home navigation tool floating on my left, but I’m not too sure whether that will be rendered nicely on other browsers/blackberry (fine for firefox). Nothing worse than browsing a blog and no way to get back to front page…

I guess there will be more information on cell groups right? Numbers, address, cell blog etc

    Great work folks!

  9. have had a go on creating a slightly more ‘grunge’ look for the flash: GTRS events. i can’t decide if it’s too messy or if it’s jst enuf. do let me know your thots. thanx.

    so far:
Daren: “GTRS events” word need to be clearer. Suggested putting a white background behind the words/ changing the font.

It was decided that we do not put any HP tel nos on the Cell Pages (cos for the secondary cell, the students are pretty young). So we are only keeping the HP numbers of our Ministerial Staff, and that can be found in the Contact Page.

-> Cell Blog.. good idea! Cos its you and Sect5 College that has one. What are the other’s feedback on this. I have no problems putting in the Cell Blog link!

  11. Stevie : Actually, I’ve linked it, but somehow .. it only works over a small line at the bottom side of the flash. Need to set it in the flash instead. Will be fixed soon.

ChernYuan: Could you call me ASAP? Thanks.

Daren : Cell Blogs, you say? Hmm.. I think I can set up a Multi User WordPress here on GTRS.org. So that Cells can set up their blogs here on .. GTRS.ORG.

Wow .. if GTRS.org can have cell blogs for those who want it. Why not. But just as long as it doesnt take up the main page resources.

BUT .. are they are any cell leaders out there who are interested to host your Cell Blog on this site?

  13. Daren : It doesn’t. Separate entity.

    David[hmm]

  14. Whow .. we can start hosting service already. Check out http://blogs.gtrs.org and http://blogs.gtrs.org/davidlee

Can I get a “WordPress ROCKS!”?

  15. hey david,
i’ve reduced the size of the flash as u requested. it looks a bit small tho. optimum size wud be 190px wide (currently 170px). cud u adjust my left margin so tat my flash sits a lil bit to the left? and then perhaps make the gap separating the left bar and the middle smaller so i can maximise the space i have?

ps: the space btw the left-middle bar is not the same the space btw the middle-right bar.

  16. reason for bigger box needed is cos when the pictures of the faces get too small, the eyes look distorted. sometimes the teeth look funny as well.

    take a look for yourself:
    Prof Sam’s eyes,
    Liang’s eyes and teeth
    Uncle Michael Tang’s right eye
    Christien’s eyes

U can actually see bits of it in the flash header too.
Look at the eyes of Jon, Eluth and Liang

  17. i agree with CY. The eyes look funny cos its too small.

  18. I’ve got a big headache with the sidebar width man. I don’t know about wanting t adjust it again. It’s no joke .. having to match IE and FF together.

    David[hmm]

  19. Daren: Good point on the phone numbers bit..I guess our cell is more liberal with our information, since we’re not so young and not so famous, haha… but I’m sure addresses would be ok or maps, unless it’s a matter of state security =). (Actually considering who our host it, it might be…)

Wordpress Rocks! But Notepad rocks more!

  20. To the webteam,

All i can say is you guys have done a great job, it is amazing to see how cool the GTRS.com site is, keep up the good job guys!! Gambateh O ^_^, sorry cos i really dunno say what but really menghargai of what you’ll done to GTRS. Keep working on it and keep shinning to Him. In any area or just a website, God can use it to touch whoever dropping by here, especially those audio sermons. We have a great speakers and great pastors as well.

    God bless you’ll
    Jasmine Wong

  21. david: the right side bar shifts down when IE is minimized. if u drag the IE window so tat it becomes even smaller, the middle bar shifts down slightly too.

not terribly annoying. but quite funny =p

    current resolution (1280 x 800)

  22. I know. I’m no CSS expert. Don’t ask me man. HAhAha!

    David[hmm]

PS: WordPress ROCKS my SOCKS! [though I'm not wearing any now.]

  23. Just a though… besides having a picture of just the speaker at the audio sermon we may have a link to show maybe 1 or 2 pic, broadshot of the sermon setting … then ppl overseas will have a feel wat is happening.

this is for the time being until we have video up and running

  24. Hi,
Thanks for this wonderful website. I am in the midst of preparing for an assignment for my course at Sekolah Alkitab Malaysia, and I found the audio sermon section particularly helpful in giving me some thoughts for my paper.
I am looking forward to more audio sermons from your site.

    Thanks & God Bless.

  25. COOOLL!!!

i like the top bar.. the pictures moving and all.. hee hee, can teach ah??

btw, there was one comment by ChernYuan i think.. mentioning bout the pictures look a bit distorted, yeah.. i agree.. maybe you can do something bout the picture resolution size?? just a suggestion only..

    awesome!! +D+D+D+D

  26. How’s the .. colour scheme now?

    David[hmm]

  27. Love the new background! Very modern look. Hehe..
Also, brilliant idea to have the summary of the sermon. Easy for people who’s lazy to listen to the whole sermon to get the main points. Or for people who were not concentrating during sermon time! Haha.
    Good job, people!

  28. Color scheme: Orange headers are ok. I find the shades of grey slightly dull to the eyes. When you have too much grey, the orange looks mismatched. You can still stick with grey, but contrast it with more darker colors.

Young adult list: The pictures are nice, but there’s something funny. How come there are 2 Stevie Heong’s?

Sitemaps: Perhaps a slight change of order would be good. ‘Welcome’ should be placed on top of the list, followed by ‘About’, and with ‘Contact’ last. I believe it is automatically arranged in alphabetical order. If there is a way to be done, then would be nice.

And some items need renaming. I understand that less is more. But some are quite ambiguous and too simple-worded. Some recommended renamings:
    1. ‘About’ to ‘About Us’ or ‘About GTRS’
    2. ‘Contact’ to ‘Contact Us’
    3. ‘MINTS’ to ‘Ministries (MINTS)’
    4. ‘Welcome’ to ‘Welcome to GTRS’

    That’s all, David. Have fun!

  29. yeah i think there’s a bit too much grey too. why not try a grey and black background like how this comment section is? lol. so Hugo Boss tho…=p

Cason’s suggestion on the order of the sitemap does make sense. i (personally) wudn’t rename them links tho, as we wudn’t want too many words to clutter the space. if ppl want to find out more. they can click on the links. so long as we don’t keep on changing them. it shud be good =)

i’ve jst had a look at the Hugo Boss site: hugoboss.com…check out their colour scheme…i think we’re doin quite well!! haha

  30. Wow! Its looks great compared to the previous one. I really loved the background colour. Appreciate to the whole web team members.

I have 2 comments to share over here. First the Home button. Doesn’t look approriate especially for the 1st timer who visit this website. Perhaps can increase the size of it. Will be much better looking.

2nd comment is the wording on the right side of each page. The font size a bit small. It’s ok to make the word clearer next time.

Overall is good. You guys really did a very good job although there’s need to be improve but anyway well done to the web team members. I’m sure in coming future, you guys will add more ideas and creativity.

  31. Well done to the web team once again. With the new look of this website, I’m sure
    more people will dropping by.

Looking forward to more video sermon to be uploaded next time.

  32. Reply to Edmund
Thanks for the feedback. We’ll look into them :)
More videos are up. We are in the process of embedding them into our webpage. Unfortunately for now you will have to view them at Google video.
Here’s the link for the last 5 Video of Live@5 Series
    - http://www.gtrs.org/2006/08/18/gtrs-videos/

Help test out the videos, speed & buffering. We have purposedly lowered the quality of video (cos each is almost an hour long) to ensure that those with slightly lower bandwidth will not wait toooooo long to watch the Videos. Leave your comments in the VIDEO post.

  33. David,

something which I think we need to change a little.

When ever you do a mouse-over the download button the whole button turn orange.

    Andrew

  34. Daren,

Something you need to look into it. The Poll on the right hand side (How did you find out about GTRS.ORG?

It’s seems that we can’t able to click any button to vote. Any idea where does the votes come from? Anyway this site still a BETA Testing.

And also look into the Site Map & Categories. I found that the placing for each wording is not in order. E.g. the Welcome should come first instead of About.
    And other as well.

    Cheers

  35. Hi all,
Nice to see wordpress+blog being embraced and utilised as a communication tool. That’s a very web2.0 trend, and a very fantastic job so far. Congrats.
Also: to fix the left margin = right margin requires the tweaking of css file, in particular offseting left & right via %. Bear in mind whatever that looks good on Firefox will never look good on Internet Explorer. If needed, I will be glad to run through the css file. Just dump to my email account.
    Keep it up.

  36. I think this blackish greyish background is a little too strenous for ‘old’ ppl with ‘bad’ eyesight like me.

Probably just change the color of the wording to something that will stand out more in contrast to the background. Please? Hehe.. Cos my eyes really painful. :P

  37. hey guys,
i think ya’ll did a great job collaboratively. Now i can even be much closer to home with all the audio sermons made available. Makes me miss home even more. Anyway if you guys need some graphics done just drop me an email cuz’ i would love to help out a lil’ here and there but it seems that you guys are doing well enough. Good Job guys, keep it up. God Bless.

  38. Hey ,

Just want to say to the web team.. what an awesome job you guys have done. This web page is just… mindblowing haha .:) yeah love the audio sermons and videos.. good to know i can still hear PJK voice even though i am millions and billions of miles away from our awesome church!! the layout is good and quite user frenly oso. just one thing though, i dunno if it is my comp onli but the loading time sometimes is very painstaking.. haha but i think it is an aweesome website and keep up the good work!!!!

    God Bless,
    Ben
